1Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using GeneGaze, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the application.
2Description of Service
GeneGaze is a client-side genomic analysis application that processes raw DNA data files from services such as 23andMe, AncestryDNA, and other direct-to-consumer genetic testing providers.
The app provides educational insights about:
- 1,000+ clinically significant health markers and genetic variants across 10 categories
- Pharmacogenomic medication response profiles for 50+ drugs
- Personalized nutrition and supplement guidance
- Ancestry and population markers
- Physical trait predictions (hair, skin, eyes, taste, body composition)
- Side-by-side genome comparison (up to 3 files)
- PDF report export and email sharing for healthcare providers
All data processing occurs entirely on your device. No genetic data is transmitted to any server.
3Medical Disclaimer
GeneGaze is NOT a medical device or diagnostic tool.
All information provided by GeneGaze is for educational and informational purposes only. It is not intended to be, and should not be used as, a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment.
- Never make medication changes based solely on GeneGaze results
- Always consult a qualified healthcare provider before making health decisions
- Medication response predictions are general indicators based on published pharmacogenomic research and may not reflect your complete clinical picture
- Genetic variants are interpreted based on current scientific understanding, which evolves over time
4Educational Purpose & Limitations
GeneGaze is designed for educational and informational purposes only. It is not a medical device, does not provide medical advice, diagnoses, or treatment recommendations, and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified healthcare provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.
5Raw Data Accuracy Limitations
Important: GeneGaze analyzes raw data generated by third-party consumer genotyping services (such as 23andMe and AncestryDNA). Research has demonstrated that consumer genotyping chips may produce false positive results at rates of approximately 40% for certain variant types (Tandy-Connor et al., Genetics in Medicine, 2018). GeneGaze does not perform independent sequencing and cannot verify the accuracy of the raw data you provide.
Any clinically significant findings identified by GeneGaze should be confirmed through clinical-grade genetic testing ordered by a qualified healthcare provider before making any medical decisions.
6Analytical Validity
While GeneGaze cross-references multiple validated databases (ClinVar, PharmGKB, GWAS Catalog, OMIM, gnomAD, ICD-10/11) and follows ACMG/AMP classification standards, the interpretation of genetic variants is an evolving field. Variant classifications may change as new research becomes available. GeneGaze's analysis represents a point-in-time assessment based on current scientific knowledge.
7Pharmacogenomic Limitations
Medication response predictions are based on known genetic associations and are not comprehensive. Drug response is influenced by multiple factors including genetics, age, weight, liver and kidney function, other medications, and overall health status. Pharmacogenomic algorithms have been most extensively validated in populations of European descent and may have reduced accuracy for other ancestries. Users should never stop, start, or change any medication based on GeneGaze results without consulting their prescriber.
8No Doctor-Patient Relationship
Use of GeneGaze does not create a doctor-patient, therapist-patient, or any other healthcare provider-patient relationship. GeneGaze does not employ or contract with genetic counselors, physicians, or other healthcare providers to deliver results.
9Psychological Risk Acknowledgment
Genetic information can be emotionally impactful. By using GeneGaze, you acknowledge that you may encounter information about potential health risks, carrier status for genetic conditions, or other findings that may cause distress.
If you experience distress related to genetic results, please contact the NAMI Helpline at 1-800-950-6264 or the Crisis Text Line by texting HOME to 741741.
10Purchase & Payment
GeneGaze is available as a one-time purchase for $9.99 through the Apple App Store. This single purchase grants permanent access to all current and future features, including:
There are no subscriptions, in-app purchases, or hidden fees. Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple and is subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
11User Responsibilities
By using GeneGaze, you agree to:
- Only analyze DNA data that you are authorized to access
- Not analyze another person's genetic data without their explicit consent
- Maintain the security of your device and any stored analysis results
- Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application

12Data Processing
All genetic data processing occurs locally on your device. GeneGaze does not transmit, store, or have access to your genetic data on any server. For complete details about how your data is handled, please review our Privacy Policy.
13Intellectual Property
The GeneGaze application, including its design, code, algorithms, and content, is the intellectual property of the GeneGaze developer. All rights are reserved.
Your DNA data and any analysis results generated from it remain entirely your property. GeneGaze makes no claim to ownership of your genetic information or derived results.
14Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, GeneGaze and its developer shall not be liable for:
- Any health decisions made based on information provided by the app
- Loss of data stored on your device
- Inaccuracies in genetic interpretation (genomic science is continuously evolving)
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the application
15Disclaimer of Warranties
GeneGaze is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. Genomic science is a rapidly evolving field, and interpretations may change as new research emerges.
